A major Toronto newspaper had a tiny reference to strange laws today:
In France, it is forbidden to call a pig Napoleon.
I went online to confirm this fact and discovered it is part of a list of strange laws being reprinted in all sorts of newspapers around the world. There is no reference to the actual law statute or code in France, so I suspect this law was either repealed, never actually was on the books or perhaps this is a new urban legend.
Given how France feels about Napoleon generally, I would think a farmer might get paid if they called their pig Napoleon.

How does France feel about Napoleon anyway?
He might get paid... but i might kick his butt!
SOMEONE BAYONET THE PEASANT IF HE DARES CALL THAT SWINE NAPOLEON!!!!
I don't think you're allowed to call somebody 'Napoleon' in France either. I wouldn't call a pig Napoleon even if I got paid a billion euros.
