Betsy's Napoleon

Emma Watson is attached to star in the period romance “Napoleon and Betsy,” replacing Scarlett Johansson who was deemed too old for the role. Watson, 18,
will play Betsy Balcombe, a young, impetuous noblewoman trapped on the isolated
British island of St. Helena who falls in love with Napoleon, who has been
exiled there. Johansson, 23, is still serving as a producer.
What this means is that Harry Potter's best friend Hermione Granger is now going to play Betsy.
But period romance?
Betsy was 13 when he arrived.....I have never heard of a romance between them...say it isn't so.
I am currently reading Betsy's Napoleon by Jeanette Eaton. Written in 1936. It is the WORST book I have ever tried to get through. The Betsy in this book is a huge pain. I am about to throw this book into the Good Will bin. BUT. I am trying to get up to speed with this Betsy person.
Hopefully I won't be the person in the movie theatre screaming "lies, all lies" when they blow the romance angle way out of proportion.......

The 50's Napoleon

I just found this vintage 50's Easter card in a scrapbook I bought on Ebay. It features images of great couples in history such as the cover which has Romeo and Juliet.

Naturally. They had Napoleon and Josephine. Funny how they called her Josie. IT IS SO 50's!
The summer has been speeding by for me.

It has been some time since I posted.
I am sad to report that my best friend, an 11 1/2 year old golden retriever named Shamus died very suddenly two weeks ago. We just lost his big brother ten months ago so I am a little down at the moment. Dogs really do leave footprints on your heart. I had the two best Golden's on the planet and it feels very strange not to have them here at my feet as I type this entry.

But I did want to come online to acknowledge my two new favorite blog commentators!
Shako and Napoleona.
I never would have imagined that anyone would go back and read all of my posts. You make me want to blog just to see what you might say.
So, Shako and Napoleona THANK YOU!
